Reclaimed Fujiroids

I love instant film. Who doesn’t? It’s nostalgia, immediacy, and beauty has been appreciated for years. A few years back when Polaroid discontinued making its instant film I was pretty bummed out. Especially since Type 55 was my preferred way of shooting when I could afford too keep it stocked. Since then I’ve switched over to “Fujiroids” the instant film by Fuji. For years I was shooting the color film all the time and just throwing away the “trash” side and enjoying my nice instant print on the other side. It wasn’t until

recently that I found out this trash side of the print may be the most valuable part. After looking around the internet at various photo blogs I came to realize with a pretty simple bleaching method you could get a scannable negative from the trash side. Since I found out I’ve been holding on to the trash from my better shots and developing them when enough were collected. The result is a sometimes better image that has more grain, faded colors, and bleach burns.
